Houses of the Castle

Between the defensive walls of the impressive castle of Montclar, and beneath its protection, the "Cases del Castell" (Houses of the Castle) rise up, constituting one of those spaces where the visitor will be able to enjoy a millenarian historical environment. It is a group of four houses, with a total capacity for 40 persons, equipped with every detail, very luminous and with big windows that discover the marvellous nature and history of the surroundings of Montclar.

The houses have all the comforts and are equipped with every detail. It is a strategic point to visit not only the castle, which is visible from the residence, but all of the cultural remainders of the past that still survive in this zone. The Romanesque is, without any doubts, the most representative art of this region; dozens of small churches are present in the surroundings of Montclar, transforming the province of Lleida in one of the most important monumental ensembles of Europe.

Note:

The historical centre of the town of Montclar that is around the castle was strongly damaged during the bombardments of the Civil War. Once the war was over, the restoration of this historical centre started, repairing a part of the castle on one side, and on the other, the former weapons courtyard. The schools, the city hall and the abbey, where the rector of the town lived, were built. Besides that, four more houses were built to be inhabited by the secretary of the town council, the doctor, and the male and female teachers. It is worthy saying that during those times boys and girls were separated in the school.

These four houses have been recently renovated and modernized. They have been equipped with all the services and comforts, and constitute the group of houses of "Cases del Castell", with a total capacity for 40 persons.

Exceptional views of the Castle of Montclar.
